13 April 2018: UdeC researcher gave talks at University of Costa Rica
Professor Raimund Bürger talked about the work of the CI²MA and the PhD program

In the context of a family visit to Costa Rica, Raimund Bürger, Director of the Doctorate Program in Applied Sciences with a minor in Mathematical Engineering from the Universidad de Concepción, UdeC, visited at San Ramón city, the Western Headquarters of the Universidad de Costa Rica, UCR, welcoming the invitation extended by the academician of the Mathematics Section of the Department of Natural Sciences of that Central American university, Mario Álvarez.

On the opportunity, Bürger, who is also a member of the Center for Research in Mathematical Engineering, CI²MA, of the UdeC, gave two talks: one about the work of frontier studies carried out at CI²MA and the other one regarding of motivation to enter the UdeC PhD program that he directs and of which Professor Álvarez himself had graduated in December 2016, after defending his thesis Methods of Finite Mixed Elements for Coupled Problems in Fluid Mechanics. Both talks had more than seventy attendees among students, academicians and, especially, students from a scientific school associated to the university headquarters. “It has been a challenge and an inspirational experience to bring a scientific topic to such a young audience. I thank Mario very much for having received me and having organized the event. I am also positively impressed by the quality of the infrastructure and the headquarters support policies”, Bürger said, expressing his confidence that these activities have contributed to the links of collaboration between UCR and UdeC, “hoping that UCR graduates choose to apply for our Doctorate, once this is again accredited”.
