23 June 2015: Double shear layer problem with periodic boundary conditions

This video illustrates the vorticity of the double shear layer problem, obtained from a velocity-pressure formulation of the unsteady state Euler equation. The initial flow field consists of a horizontal shear layer of finite thickness, perturbed by a small amplitude vertical velocity. The numerical method employed is a new discontinuous Galerkin scheme using a post-processing idea and an upwind flux, which is locally conservative and L^2 stable. More details can be found in:
